How to cure the plants: lavender

I think that lavender is one of the most fragrant plants in all. I am convinced that all of you have used at least once in their body products scented with lavender. Our grandmothers were used to take the flowers of this plant, dry them, put them in bags to scent linen drawers. Who still uses small lavender soap? Again, these were very good to scent drawers.

Lavender is a herbaceous perennial plant, native to the Mediterranean areas where it grows wild in the bushes. He leaves with an elongated shape and gray-silver. During the summer it produces fragrant flowers purple-blue, grouped in spikes. The medieval times was much used lavender to scent the body.

There are different types of lavender, the most common and popular are the Lavender angustifolia, also known as English lavender, the Lavender dentata, with flowers of lilac and lavender lanata that leaves white and big ears. As you grow lavender? It's not difficult to treat because of the lavender plant has no special needs.

It should be planted in a sunny position and must not be watered too often have to wait for the soil is dry between watering and the other. Lavender should be planted in the garden, but if you do not have one, then you can also grow it in pots, provided it is large. After flowering, you must remove the dried flowers and prune the branches of the plant.

When the temperatures begin to fall (October-November) cover the plant with a special fabric that is the florists or nurseries. In the photogallery you can see some beautiful pictures of lavender.
