Obesity of the mother during pregnancy affects the future fertility of daughters

Obesity is never a good idea. Every day there always comes further evidence that overweight is a problem to be solved, especially because obesity affects the risk of death. In the case of a pregnancy, however, an obese woman dysfunction also send some to the offspring. This was revealed by a study by American and Yale in the journal Endocrinology, that obesity during pregnancy decreases the fertility of their daughters.

For now, the search was performed only on mice, but why risk it? The cause is a hormone called ghrelin, which occurs in very low levels in the body of women in strong overweight. Ghrelin with leptin causes the yo-yo diet, where you can lose weight and then return back the pounds lost. The researchers observed in laboratory mice female born to mothers with a deficiency of ghrelin have lower fertility and produce smaller offspring than those with normal ghrelin.

The mothers who had less mice ghrelin gave their lives in small females with abnormal uterine expression of certain genes that lead to greater difficulty of embryo implantation in the uterus, resulting in lower fertility. "Although our study in guinea pigs - said Hugh Taylor, one of the authors - we believe that it is meaningful for women because the lack of ghrelin seems to plan the future of unborn womb, with consequences on fertility." These results further light on previous research indicating that those XXL endangers pregnancies.

It was not known why overweight women have great difficulty in strong to complete their pregnancies. Now you can find a cause for certain that obesity, not just bad for moms, but also their daughters who are about to be born. Science provides us with more and more evidence that losing pounds in redundancy is not only an aesthetic whim, but a safe investment for present and future health.

If this study should also be reflected on human data, then the weight control in pregnancy would become one of the key factors for the welfare of mother and child. Our body is like a car with all the mechanisms related to each other: we must never believe that a single dysfunction remains isolated, and then run to the remedies for the general good of the organism.
