Children who sleep a little more likely than others to become "chubby"

Children who sleep little? Attention to their weight, because less time devoted to sleep in childhood, is more prone to the accumulation of weight. In short, the little children who do not sleep enough are at risk of becoming beautiful chubby, or even obese, even at 7 years. If your child seems a little 'too much meat for her age, try to imagine if, perhaps, among the causes of the tendency to gain weight there was also a general tendency for sleep disturbance in previous years.

The link between sleep and weight of children, was discovered by researchers at the University of Otago in New Zealand, thanks to a study published in British Medical Journal. To test the correlation, were monitored 244 children from the age of 3 years to 7, considering parameters such as sleep, diet followed, the body mass index (BMI), any physical activity or sports activities, and the distribution of body fat.

E 'showed that the sample who had slept less than 11-12 hours per day (between sleep and afternoon naps) had an average waist size more plump than others, at the age of 7 years. The origin of this failure was not detected, it is probably a symptom of some metabolic imbalance, in any event, the National Sleep Foundation states in 11-13 hours sleep per day is necessary for a child between 3 and 5 years of age.

The question is not irrelevant, because we know that from TV, games, computers, etc., very often children get an hour of sleeping children awake as crickets. This kind of activity, in fact, has the effect of excitement, with consequent impacts on the natural sleep cycle. If children have difficulty falling asleep, it is often due to bad habits.

Moms and dads should help create an environment conducive to sleep, perhaps involving some nice conciliatory ritual every night before taking them to bed. How to read them a nice bedtime story, a warm milk or chamomile, the classic lullaby. And then, of course, do not eat too late, and above all, no TV!
