Natural antioxidants: what are they?

What are antioxidants? They are the allies to fight free radicals, molecules that cause aging and the onset of disease. Free radicals accumulate in our bodies when we follow a wrong lifestyle: diet rich in fat, smoking, excessive exposure to sun, but also diseases or inflammatory conditions can cause the increase of free radicals.

Our cells have a mechanism of self-defense against free radicals, but often, when they have accumulated too many cells are no longer able to defend against their attack. We can help our body to defend itself from attack by free radicals, using supplements, but, above all, consuming foods rich in natural antioxidants.

What are antioxidants? What foods are these natural antioxidants? Here is the list of most foods rich in antioxidants. All fruit and vegetables are rich in antioxidants and should regularly consume five servings a day.
