The science is telling us it in all languages: obesity is a disease that can be deadly. Some time ago we heard that the obesity of the mother affects the future fertility of their daughters, but now a study published in Human Reproduction ricercattori from the University of Newcastle has shown that obesity during pregnancy doubles risk of premature death of the fetus.
Children may die before birth or during the first year of life because of excessive overweight of the mother during the gestation period. The period of pregnancy is very peculiar and delicate and needs all the care and attention. But they are worth very little if no attention is paid to the first body fitness which will house a new life.
The study data were released after having analyzed the body mass index of 41 thousand pregnant women: it was found that for those that have an index above 30, the infant mortality rate is 16 per one thousand shares, while for mothers with BMI between 18.5 and 24.5 drops to 8 thousand. Do not think, however, that excessive thinness is a sign of health safety of the child: for women under weight was noted increased infant mortality.
At this point, the researchers were able to say that the optimal index is 23, with an increase in deaths from both above and below this figure. "This shows that it is necessary to give all possible assistance to women to lose weight before pregnancy - said Ruth Bell, author of the study - to give children the best chance of life." Losing weight, then, is not an act of pure vanity, but of future health.
Only by controlling the weight up and maintain a healthy balanced diet, we may be confident of being fit to face even a pregnancy. Rather than the advice to lose weight quickly, we must adopt a more healthy lifestyle, avoiding saturated fats, and eating lots of vegetables, fish and fruit.
If we're going to get pregnant soon and we know the true chii give too much for too long we can not throw down, let us turn to an expert who will advise the right treatment for food to be taken back on track. Only then can we fully enjoy the joys of pregnancy, avoid the most futile.
